About Erin Meher...
Erin has dedicated herself to studying the nature of consciousness and practising the art of living. She began her Yogic and mystical tradition exploration at a very young age. Studying Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence at University of Toronto, she simultaneously began her first Yoga Teacher Training. She learned Transcendental Meditation from a student of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and practised TM diligently for six years. She continues extensive and on-going training in Yoga and Meditation. Erin sits and serves in Vipassana meditation courses as taught by S.N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin. She maintains five precepts and two hours of meditation daily. She serves with a strong and dedicated team at Dhammanjali Meditation Centre as the Senior Content and Correspondence Editor for Venerable Bhante Debongshi. She studied briefly at Chung Wah Kung Fu Systems under the supervision of Master Lee Chi Wai, a 31st generation Shaolin Temple warrior monk disciple learning some most valuable techniques and experiencing the rare gift of studying under a true Master.
In India, she practiced and became certified in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga at Universal Yoga Centre studying Asana with Vijay Amar, a practitioner of over 45 years, and Philosophy with most esteemed Dr. Ganesh Rao. Erin lived in Mysore, Karnataka where she became certified at the Indian Institute of Ayurvedic Yoga Massage.
Erin’s other pursuits are in both Culinary Arts and Agroecology. She is an experienced and passionate urban farmer, permaculture forest gardener, and promotes the fundamentals of health that start with plant-based food-medicine. She is currently studying Nutritional Therapy as well as Non-Violent Communication.
Erin expresses herself through theatre, visual arts, folk crafts, and music. Her musical passion is experienced through ancient ritual and folk songs spanning many traditions, purposes, and cultures. She has studied of Vedic and Sanskrit chanting, sings in many languages and plays percussion, primarily Daf for Persian Classical, Folk and Sufi Music and singing Ukrainian Polyphony. Erin’s mission is spreading health, kindness, compassion, and peace.
